Jack's Gloom and Doom TT

This is our most recent win!
Some people may laugh when you tell them you spent $35 on what is in the most basic terms a poo catcher, but let me tell you once you have tried a Twinkie Tush you will be forever changed.
Jack is not only a heavy wetter, but a total diaper flooder. He was able to wear his TT sans cover for 2 hours! It may have lasted longer, but we we going out so I changed him and I was seriously shocked at how dry he still was.
The true test was nighttime. Jack takes a eats and goes down for the night around 7 sleeps through the night and wakes up between 7:30am and 8:30am. The older he get the more leaks we were getting so I finally took the plunge and decided to switch it up from our pockets and hemp to a TT and pul or wool cover.
I was nervous all night that he would wake up soaked, I mean there was no hemp only this one fitted! Well, shock me shock me my super soaker woke up dry and happy after a straight 13 hours of sleep.
I am totally in love.

Farmer's Market

Today was the 2nd week of Farmer's Market and our first week making the trip this season. I was so bummed because the weather was awful. We sucked it up put on some coats and got some awesome stuff.
The Amish ladies and their to due for baking supplied us with a loaf on honey oatmeal bread. I would eat anything those ladies bake. Since we're trying to eat better we didn't pick up the chocolate chip cookies or random fruit pie we normally get from them. It was so difficult not to just grab a pack of cookies and devour them on the car ride home.
Another new thing we tried was a pack garlic herb cheese curds or manna from heaven at our local creamery's stand. I won't lie, I taste tested quite a bit of cheese today. Every bite was amazing. I can't wait to get some of their fresh mozzarella for pizza.
We also bought some wheat sprouts but there really isn't much to say about that.
It's still early in the season so there weren't as many fresh fruit and veggie stands as usual but it only get's me more excited for the upcoming months.

Woolopalooza

Ao you're wondering, what is the deal with wool?

Wool is like a breath of fresh air for your babies bottom. It's made of all natural materials, and it a great alternative to PUL. A lot of cd families use a wool cover at night when the kiddo is going to be stuck in the same diaper for long periods of time, it both offers breathabilty and the ever so coveted a bullet proof night time system.

How does it work, why is it so awesome?

Wool works so well because it is water prood and can seriously absorb 30%of it's weight it mosture and still feel dry to the touch! If you have a heavy wetter like we do, it can be a great nighttime option, mousture on wool evaporated very quikly rather than just staying wet (it might be magic, I'm still in the testing phases)  You can use you wool over just about any diaper, prefolds/flats, fitteds, Ai2s if you thing you could use a little extra protection, or really any diaper you feel needs a certain bullet proof quality that you aren't getting.
Really if you can't find something that works and you keep waking up with your kid in a puddle wool could very well be your ticket to a leak free night.

How about that, you don't even have to work to keep it clean?

Yes I know we all do a lot of laundry and yes I know we don't want to do more, well score one more for wool. Did you know that wool is naturally antibacterial so it stays so fresh and so clean waaaay longer than a normal diaper cover? After it's done it's job and kept your kid dry overnight you just take it off turn it inside out and let it air dry. Because of its antibacterial properties, you really don't have to wash it but ever few weeks or even a month depending on how often you use them.your woolies every time you use them. I promise you no smells! Once they use some of their effectiveness you will need to wash them, and I'll tell you how.
By tell I mean link because I'm sure this explains things way better than I can, How to wash and lanolize wool

How much is this new diaper related addiction going to cost?
Wool is going to cost what you want it to cost. There are upcycled soakers that could cost you $11 and there are hand dyed wool longies that cost around $100. It's all in what you want. There are also plenty of patterns available online if you can knit or if you have an old wool sweater around that you can turn into a soaker pretty easily.

So I've found that I actually enjoy cloth diapering both of the kids. It's somewhat shocking considering we hadn't even planned to cd Lucy. In our minds that last pack of diapers meant it was time to potty train. However, with the roadblocks we've been hitting lately that process is being held off for a couple more months.
I'm so glad we don't have sposies sitting around in our trash anymore. My husband doesn't call me the blood hound for nothing and the smell of the diapers became over whelming by the end of the day. I know not everyone is a super smeller but man, how and why did I ever deal with that rankness before?
I also kind of dig the routine. I change the kids ever 2-3 hours or right before naps and it's almost soothing to let Lucy choose what diaper she wants and the rest that comes along with the diapering process. I enjoy routine and I enjoy seeing the kids with their fluff.

Fluffy mail

We got our new Purple one size Fuzzi Bunz in the mail today! I may be stretching the fact that dark purple is gender neutral but I'll go with it. Since the kids are sharing diapers I think Lucy deserves a few lady friendly colors.
This is our first FB one size, so far I've love all of our perfect size diaps. However, they really aren't my 1st choice in pockets. It seems like lately I go to our Kawaiis, looooove them.
Anyway back to the Fuzzis. This may be completely silly but I find them to be the cutest of all the pockets and sometimes choose them specifically for that reason.

We seem to get leg leaks with the fbs but it could really just be a fit issue. I ordered mine from amazon because the were REALLY cheap with a few combined coupons codes. Let's hope it works a little better!
